Djiva is an award-winning West Australian group who perform cruisey infusions of gutsy soul, folk and roots. In 2007, Djiva released their debut album ‘Yowarliny’ to wide acclaim.
Djiva sought artwork for their album that would compliment their songs whilst remaining true to indigenous culture, and sell records. The feature of the artwork needed to illustrate the band name ‘Djiva’, which is described as – ‘The wind carries the seed, where the seed falls, there remains forever a vibration in the ground, it’s called Djiva.’
A combination of photography and illustration was used to create various textures of the earth and human body – rocks, plants, cells and skin.
